About the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program

Established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program (ATIIP) discretionary grant program will provide $44.5 million in grant funding in FY 23. Funding supports State, regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to plan and build active transportation infrastructure that expands mobility options that are powered primarily by human energy like bicycling, walking, scooting, skating, or using wheelchairs and other mobility devices. The projects will help improve the safety, efficiency, and reliability of active transportation networks; improve connectivity between active transportation modes and public transportation; enhance the resiliency of on- and off-road active transportation infrastructure and help protect the environment; and improve quality of life in underserved communities through delivery of connected active transportation networks and expand mobility opportunities.
